Basic Setup and Layout Adjustments
- Change Post/Page Layout: Navigate to the post or page editor, then go to “Post/Page Settings” in the right-hand sidebar. Choose your desired layout under the “Layout” options.
- Disable a Page Title: In the post or page editor, go to “Post/Page Settings” in the right-hand sidebar and toggle off the “Show Page Title” option.
- Change Post/Page Title Layout and Appearance: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “General” > “Page Title.” Adjust the layout, alignment, and appearance settings for titles.
- Content & Sidebar Widths: Adjust content and sidebar widths in “Appearance” > “Customize” > “General” > “Sidebar.”
Header and Navigation Customizations
- Adding Social Media Icons: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Header” > “Social” and add your social media profiles. Customize the icons and their placement.
- Setting Up a Sticky Header: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Header” > “Sticky Header” and enable the sticky header option. Adjust the settings to customize its appearance.
- Change Search Modal Heading Text: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Header” > “Search.” Change the “Search Modal Heading Text” to your preferred wording.
- Change Spacing Around Navigation Menu Links: Adjust the spacing in “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Header” > “Primary Navigation.”
Logo and Color Customizations
- Change Logo: Navigate to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Site Identity.” Upload your logo and adjust its size and position.
- Change Colors: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Colors.” Customize the color scheme of your site, including background, text, links, and other elements.
Content Management
- Copy Sections from One Page to Another: Use the “Kadence Blocks” to copy sections. In the block editor, select the section you want to copy, click the three-dot menu, and choose “Copy.” Paste it into the desired location on another page.
- Rearrange Sections on a Page: In the block editor, click and drag the section you want to move. Use the drag handle (six dots) that appears at the top of the block to rearrange sections.
Blog and Post Settings
- Change Image Size on Blog & Category Pages: Navigate to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Blog” > “Archive Layout.” Adjust the “Featured Image Size” settings to change the image dimensions on blog and category pages.
- Change “Read More” Button Text: In the block editor, find the “Post Grid/Carousel” block settings. Look for the “Read More” text field and change it to your desired text.
- Post Author Box: Enable and customize the post author box in “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Blog” > “Single Post Layout.”
Page and Sidebar Customizations
- Customizing Footer Widgets: Navigate to “Appearance” > “Widgets” and customize the footer widget areas with your desired content and layout.
- Creating Custom Sidebars: Navigate to “Appearance” > “Widgets” and create new sidebar areas. Assign these sidebars to specific pages or posts via “Post/Page Settings.”
- Customizing 404 Page: Go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “General” > “404 Page.” Customize the layout and content of your 404 error page.
Advanced Settings and Integrations

: Use a child theme or a plugin like “Insert Headers and Footers” to safely add custom code. For manual edits, go to “Appearance” > “Theme Editor” and select “header.php” or “footer.php” to add your code. - Setting Up WooCommerce: If you have an online store, go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “WooCommerce” and configure the shop, product, and checkout settings.

Additional Customizations
- Change Related Posts Heading Text: Navigate to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Blog” > “Single Post Layout.” Look for the “Related Posts” section and change the heading text.
- How to Display Specific Posts in Posts Blocks: In the block editor, use the “Post Grid/Carousel” block settings to filter and display specific posts. You can select posts by categories, tags, or manually pick posts to display.
- Switch from Genesis to Kadence: First, activate the Kadence theme in “Appearance” > “Themes.” Update any customizations and rebuild parts of your site using Kadence-specific features and settings.
- Add a LikeToKnow.It Icon: Use a custom HTML widget or a plugin to add the LikeToKnow.It icon. Place the widget in the desired location, such as the header, footer, or sidebar.
- Enable Dark Mode: In “Appearance” > “Customize” > “General” > “Dark Mode,” enable the dark mode option and configure its settings.
- Breadcrumbs: To enable or configure breadcrumbs, go to “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Breadcrumbs.” You can enable breadcrumbs and customize their appearance and placement.
